About
My name is Leslie, and I’m a senior at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. I first became interested in human factors and ergonomics when I was trying to find interesting classes to take during the spring of my freshman year. I was taking intro psychology at the time and was fascinated by how the brain worked. Looking over the psychology department website, I stumbled on engineering psychology. The description on the website said human factors was applying knowledge of how humans operate to the design of products and systems. In any event, it was engineering and psychology and I was fascinated.
Over two years later, I am still fascinated by human factors. In particular, I enjoy designing interfaces, conducting usability tests, and applying human factors principles to other areas of my life.
I am also pursuing a minor in engineering management. Through this minor I am improving my communication skills and learning about how to plan a big project.
Outside of my classes I am in the Tufts chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (THFES) and I run for the cross-country and track teams. I also grade problem sets for a statistics class, serve as a front-desk monitor for the dance facilities at Tufts, and work at an internship a few hours a week for a consulting firm designing products. I spend my free time reading, listening to music, and enjoying time outdoors while it’s still warm enough to be out there!
